Scenario: You’ve done all you can think of to get followers – yet still not seeing the massive targeted traffic. Right? If that’s you, then of course you have pondered your situation there at Twitter. You’re also probably aware that Twitter is an excellent vehicle for building great relationships with other business owners. We’ll cover some mistakes that you may be making in your marketing efforts there.
Before we cover some of the general mistakes that Twitter marketers use, I’d just like to remind people that these sites try to discourage commercial activities on their platform. If you’re operating across multiple profiles make sure you read up about anonymous surfing and post your tweets using something like a UK Proxy service to protect your identity and IP address.
Don’t try to convince people how great you, your company or your products are. Don’t expect people to care about your own struggles and motives in regard to your product. People are mainly concerned about the way your product can benefit them. So it’s always about what the prospect wants. You have to make yourself secondary when marketing on twitter. Discuss what your followers can gain from your product and keep your own ego in check. Once they know how your product can help them, they’ll be curious to find out more about it. Let them want to discover more and don’t try to impress them with your own greatness. cautious or polite when they communicate on Twitter. Don’t worry about ticking people off. If you tweet just once a day, your message will get lost in the thousands of tweets. With Twitter, you have to use an aggressive strategy and send frequent updates about what your followers care about. The fact is, if you don’t send out a large number of tweets, your followers will lose track of you. If you want to create brand recognition, you have to keep people aware of you.
Another mistake to avoid is not being open enough with your followers. Your prospect should know who you are right in their first interaction. Have a profile and photo that tells people about you. Share as much information as you can. Share some of yourself in your tweets and don’t make them all about selling something; this will help your followers see you as a real person.
The best way to build trust is to show your followers that you are genuinely trying to help them. By providing real value, you won’t come across as a mere promoter who has no concern for anyone.
